FORGIVENESS (03/12/2022) back You trust that it won't hurt you. You forget the trail of destruction you've left May chase you into your twilight years, And I wasn't the only one. I seethe and spit sulfur, Volcanic rock and ash, So that someday I might will into existence What it is I think you deserve, But that's not my calling. I'll forgive. But I'll never need to forget What your kind does for fun. I'll forgive. And you'll be gone from my life, snake, Festering illness, frothing bile. I'll forgive you for your presence, Since the very existence of you is so sorry, It apologizes even when you won't. I forgive you, They can't wage war against you If you've forced them to double down and surrender, To choke on their own insignificance, By not even honoring them with a fight, Or even a glint of anger. Hate has no place in my heart, As its knife edge cuts deep, And spills my blood into the sea For sharks like you. (Leeches, maybe.) |
